Project Concept Ideas (Week 1)

Week 1 - Ideas brainstorming

For the first week, our group come up with many ideas for the story.

I came up with the idea for a story about a forest gnome trying to teach a careless person for their littering behavior which harm the environment.

However, as we consult with our 3D lecturer, Mr. Gary, he said that the story lack the fantasy, magical ending which makes it quite uninteresting. Furthermore, the cg plants interacting with the live actor can be difficult to make.

For the second idea, I think of a story about a scary clown who teaches an arrogant, mean person a lesson. Our lecturer suggest that horror can only be effective if animation is done well, so we should be aware of this. He also suggest an alternative ending to make the evil clown's character more consistent. Therefore, we discuss together and decided to change the ending, which is the clown tricked and trap the person after they finally won the challenge.

My teammate, Nara, came up with the idea about the devastating consequences of bullying. Our 3D lecturer express that this storyline will be more impactful if it was a series with episodes rather than a 2 minute short film. He also comment that there's not much animation and movement for tracking which will affect the majority of our grades.

My teammate, Sheryl, shared her idea for a story about a person who is punished by their doll after abusing it. Despite the interesting concept, the story lacked clear details on the punishment and ending. Furthermore, there's not much action to animated and tracking.

My teammate, Kayla, came up a story about a person who is stuck in a liminal space that represents their subconscious mind.

My teammate, Kay, also shared a similar idea, which is psychological story about a person's struggles and hopes, represented by elevator levels.

Both stories are interesting and imactful, however, it lacks action to animate, and there's only 1 main character, the requirement is 2 main characters, on is cg and 1 is live action.
